How does a Disneyland style stereoscopic 3D amusement park sound? Well, if you live in France the future is now!
It’s called FUTUROSCOPE and features dozens of visually amazing attractions and shows. The entertainment on offer includes a smorgasboard of IMAX 3D offerings including ‘Deep Sea 3D’ which uses the IMAX Solido Technology in which images are projected onto an 800 m² semi-circular screen. Viewers perceive the 3D effect by wearing liquid-crystal glasses, which become opaque (non-transparent) upon receving an ifra-red signal from the projector. As both the left and right eye images are projected alternately onto the screen, one or the other of the glasses becomes opaque, thus ensuring that each eye sees the appropriate image and creating the 3D effect.

Futuroscope has a massive selection of visual attractions utilizing most of todays most cutting edge vison technologies. The park re-opens Feb 7th 2009, in the meantime check out Futuroscopes website.
