While google promotes their online CGI 3D render of Rome constructed by UCLA’s CVR Laboratory. The same technology (from the same lab) is being used to launch a stereo 3D tourist attraction in Rome called ‘3D Rewind Rome’. Located in an old theatre alongside the Colosseum, 3D Rewind Rome takes guests on a 3D journey through the ancient streets of Rome. Guests are given passive 3D glasses and headsets for sound. Reports so far suggest positive feedback from guests, with the Mayor saying that this is the first stage of an amusement park he hopes to construct in Rome over the coming years. Ah.. the irony of a virtual 3D version of Rome.. in Rome.
