What could better than Google Earth’s CGI 3D representation of the world? Google Earth’s Sterescopic 3D CGI 3D representation of the world. How is all this possible you say? Well, first you need to download the free trial of TriDef Visualizer for Google Earth from here (available only for a limited time). Then you need to find a pair of 3D glasses. Luckily almost every kind is supported, although obviously dependent on the variety used your image quality (and 3d effect) will vary. Stereoscopic glasses supported include:

  • Anaglyph, line interlace, side-by-side (cross-eyed and parallel)
  • Autostereoscopic displays including Arisawa’s Xpol, Sharp’s LL151/AL3D/RD3D, Newsight’s 32″
  • Dual projection, Quadbuffered Stereo (OpenGL stereo)

Finally, after installing TriDef you can launch google earth, activate the ‘3-D Buildings’ layer and maximise the tilt.. hey presto stereo 3D.
